Recommended Brake Controller Compatible With 2008 Mercedes Benz GL450 Without Splicing Wires

Question:

Hello, Does below product works for 2008 Mercedes Benz GL450 Also?. I have green plug under my dash. If it does not work do you have any other product. I do not want to cut MZB wires. Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Toyota and Lexus Item # 3040-P Thanks

If you have a 7-way on your 2008 Mercedes Benz GL450, then I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # TK94FR. The brake controller wiring harness you mentioned # 3040-P will not work with your vehicle, so the best option to not cut any factory wires is to use this wireless system. This system will use the 12V power wire and the trailer stop light signal to function properly. It has a built in sensor for decelleration and applies brakes proportional to that. You will still have diagnostics and manual override available in the remote.

If you do not have the factory 7-way, I recommend the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This kit uses zero contact interface sensors to capture the signal needed. Then you will use the Universal Brake Controller Wiring # ETBC7 to connect the 4-way flat to a 7-way and you will only need to connect the 12V power from the battery to this unit along with the ground, so you won't need to cut any factory wires. The wireless brake controller just needs that 12V along with the four other trailer functions to operate correctly.
