Will the Kuat Transfer Bike Rack Hold Up Against Corrosion if Left Out in Rain Frequently

Question:

Curious to know if I could leave this bike rack on my bike, even in the rain. I do plan to get the lock and cables that go with it. Im concerned about rust. How does the rack hold up? Im planning to use the bike with my 2014 Subaru Forester with 2 inch hitch.

The Kuat Transfer is steel which means that it is susceptible to corrosion but only if the powder coating gets scraped off. If that happens then spraying some paint on it will help stop corrosion from starting.

The Hollywood Racks TRS # HR3000 is made with both aluminum and steel parts. Aluminum is naturally corrosion resistant and the steel is powder coated so it is a good option around the same price as the Transfer.

If you want a rack that is mostly aluminum I recommend the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22G for gray, # SH22B for black, or # SH22P for pearl. Besides being made of aluminum these racks are, dare I say, sexy! Very versatile, sturdy construction, aluminum components; this rack is going to last a long time. I have linked a video of this rack for you.
