Maintenance Schedule Recommendation for Reese Slider Hitch RP30051

Question:

Hello, I purchased this hitch Reese easy glide 16k sliding 5th wheel hitch and was wondering how to lubricate the slider bars and hidden springs in the sides of this hitch. what is the best lube to be used. Some have suggested Slip Plate 34003G Dry Film Lube or white lithium grease or WD 40? is there a video on how to do this? Can you suggest what is the best less messy of the methods? thanks for your help. sincerely , PS I also have one of your 5x8 wooden deck utility trailers and just love it for moving my John Deer L225 lawn tractor and accessories between my home and my mother-in-laws to take care of her lawn, again thanks.RSVP

According to the instruction from Reese that I have linked for you: Before each trip, lubricate skid plate surface of the hitch with automotive type chassis grease or use a plastic lube plate to provide a lubricated surface. Use engine oil to lubricate pivot points of moving parts within the hitch.

Plastic lube plates # RP83002 can be used to avoid messy grease. The plastic lube plate must not exceed 3/16 of an inch in thickness to ensure hitch will operate properly. Lube plates must be 10 inches in diameter or larger to properly distribute king pin weight.

I have also included a link to our FAQ article on grease compatibility for you. Make sure that if you use 2 different types of grease that they are compatible.
