When connecting a gooseneck trailer to a big rig truck like your Peterbilt, you will need to change the trailer wiring from the commercial style to a RV style connection.

Using a kit like the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT, will allow you to wire a 4-flat pole connection to your Peterbilt. The ModuLite unit will help separate the tractor's lighting circuits to be connect to your trailer. The module has it own separate power source that will come from your vehicle's battery.

Next, to install a brake controller on your rig, you will need to install an # ETBC7 Brake Controller Installation Kit. The is kit will include a 7-way connecter, electrical components and wire to allow you to install a brake controller in the cab of your truck. The 4-flat pole connecter that you install will plug in to the 7-way connecter to run the trailer lights.

I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, # 90195, for the brake controller for your Peterbilt truck. The P3 is a proportional controller that will activate your trailer brakes on how intense you are applying the brakes in your tow rig. The hard you press on the brakes the more braking power will be sent to the trailer brakes.

I have attached two help articles that give more info in the # ETBC7 kit and information on installing a brake controller from scratch.
