Which Blue Ox SwayPro Should Be Used for a Trailer With a Tongue Weight of 1,620 lbs

Question:

Hi, I am trying to determine which sway/wd system to purchase. I really like the Blue Ox SwayPro but I am not sure which weight to go with. Right now my trailer pretty much fully packed empty fresh/black/grey tanks is at 1620lbs. Would this be too much for the 1500lbs setup? Or two little for the 2000lbs setup? Thanks

When deciding what Weight Distribution (WD) to pick from, you will want to first figure out the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your setup. This includes the Tongue Weight (TW) of your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer plus the weight of any cargo that will be behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. After you add those figures together, you will want to choose a WD that has a weight range where your TTW falls in the the middle of.

If your fully loaded and ready-to-go trailer has a TW of 1,620 lbs then the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW1500, which is rated for 1,500 lbs TW, will not be able to handle the weight of your trailer. 1,500 lbs is the max amount of weight that it can handle.

For your application you will want to use the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW2000. This WD system actually has a TW range of 1,500 lbs - 2,000 lbs so it will be able to handle the TW of your trailer at 1,620 lbs plus 380 lbs of cargo behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle.

This WD system does come with a shank, but does not include a hitch ball. You can either use the Tow Ready 2 inch Hitch Ball # 63845 or the Tow Ready 2-5/16 inch Hitch Ball # 63847 depending on your application.
