Compatibility of Larger Tire Size on 2009 Keystone Passport RV

Question:

I am planning to buy a travel trailer, 09 Keystone Passport 290BH Ulralight Bunkhouse. It has 205/75r14 load c tires on it, will it be a problem to buy a tire and wheel package of 4 tires with a different size, 215/75r14 load d

You can select a higher-load range tire in your trailer's current size if you wish to add some tire safety margin, or if your trailer's design allows for a wider 215mm width tire you can potentially also increase the size along with the load range if you like.

In your current ST205/75R14 size we offer the Kenda wheel/tire # AM32161 which is rated for Load Range D, 2200-lbs at 75-psi. This wheel has the popular 5-on-4-1/2 bolt pattern and the tire is rated for 81-mph.

To change tire size you will need to ensure that the larger tire size will not cause contact with the fender, frame or any other components. We recommend at least 3-inches of space between the top of the tire tread and the fender/wheel well to allow for normal suspension travel. The two tire sizes are only about 1/2-inch different in overall diameter and width. The 215mm width tire is going to be closer to the trailer frame by about 0.2-inches; not a huge difference.

If you have enough clearance for this larger tire you can use one of the ST215/75-14 tires shown on the linked page. Part # TTWTRTM2157514D is a Load Range D radial tire that is rated for speeds up to 81-mph, making it ideal for interstate highway travel. This tire carries a 2-year warranty.
