Recommended Bike Rack that Allows Trunk Access on 2008 Toyota Camry
Question:
Hi, I have a 2008 Toyota Camry. Im looking for a bike rack for commuting purposes. Id like to load a bike on and off the rack with ease. But, also Id like to have access to the trunk. Can you recommend a rack? Thank you in advance! Best,

For a bike rack that will allow you to have access to the trunk on your 2008 Toyota Camry, I recommend a hitch-mounted bike rack that has a tilt-away feature.
If you do not already have a trailer hitch installed on your Toyota Camry, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class II Frame Receiver Hitch # 36416. This is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and has a 300 pound tongue weight capacity. I have attached the installation details as well as an instal video on your vehicle for you to look at.
Then for a hitch-mounted bike rack, I recommend the Thule Camber 2 Bike Rack # TH9058. This rack will allow you to carry up to 2 bikes and has a total weight capacity of 75 pounds. The Roadway features a quick-release level at its base, which will allow the rack to be tilted away from the vehicle after the bikes are unloaded for rear cargo/trunk access. You will see in the attached video that this rack makes it very easy to load and unload your bikes.
With a hanging style rack, you may need an adapter bar like the Thule # TH982XT if you plan on carrying any child's, woman's or alternative frame bike. This will provide a horizontal bar for mounting the bike level.
I also really like the Swagman Chinook 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64683. This is a nice platform rack that will allow for easier loading and unloading of bikes when compared to a hanging style rack. The rack can fold down with the bikes still loaded for easy rear cargo access. This carrier includes a hitch lock and 2 keys to secure the carrier to your vehicle.
If convenience and cost are more important than trunk access, then I also recommend looking at a trunk bike rack. These are simple and easy to use but when installed, you will not be able to open the trunk. The Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT is a great trunk rack that is confirmed to fit your 2008 Toyota Camry. This will hold up to 2 bikes at 35 pounds each and includes cushioned anti-sway cradles to prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-vehicle contact. I recommend adding the Thule Passive Security Strap # TH533 to secure the rack to the vehicle and prevent theft.
I have attached video demonstrations on all the products mentioned for you to review.
