5th Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2014 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 ft Bed
Question:
I have 2014 Ram Quad cab with a 5 1/2 foot bed. Which hitch would work for the economy minded person? Towing a 1989 Nortwood Travelor 216. GVW of 7000 lbs.

Since your truck has a 5-1/2 foot bed there isn't really a simple or inexpensive route available for towing a fifth wheel trailer. The bed of your truck is so short that you would either have to replace your pin box with a Sidewinder or use a Demco 13k AutoSlider hitch part # DM8550040 as it's the only hitch available with the needed clearance. It slides 22-1/2 inches whereas all other hitches only slide about half that.
You will need a rail kit too. For that you would want the Demco part # DM8552030-71 which is a custom fit hitch for your 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 foot bed.
