Does B and W Patriot Hitch Require a Capture Plate

Question:

Does the BandW Patriot manual sliding 5th wheel hitch require a capture plate? Also can you advise what the maximum angle of approach is required when hooking up to a fifth wheel? I understand some hitches require the truck be within 10 degrees of straight on to hitch up to a 5th wheel. Im a newby at this so please humor my lack of understanding.

The B and W Patriot Hitch part # BWRVK3270 does not require a capture or locking plate to connect to fifth wheel trailer. The only hitches that do that are the ones that are auto-sliders where the head of the hitch locks to the pin box and turns with the trailer.

The Patriot is a standard style hitch that pivots between the pin box and the hitch head. No capture plate needed. And also there is not angle of approach requirement that the auto-sliders have. We still recommend trying to back up straight as possible, but the jaws of the hitch will accept the pin box basically from any angle as it is perfectly round.

For rails for your 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty you would want the custom kit part # BWRVK2401 that you referenced as they are a confirmed fit.
