Grease Seal for Rettig Utility Trailer with Inner Bearing L44549
Question:
Just bought a used Rettig Utility trailer and want to pack the bearings but I can find a number on the grease seal. I havent taken it out yet but I was looking for a number on the rubber portion of the seal that I can see. I can see a number on the inner bearing it is L44549. Would that give me enough info to purchase a grease seal. Or would I find a number somewhere else on the seal. The only think I can see is what looks like Taiwan. Thank you for any help you can give

Typically the numbers on a grease seal will be stamped onto the inner edge of the seal. If you are not able to see these numbers, you can also measure the inner and outer diameters using a digital caliper like the Performance Tool # PTW80157. Sometimes it is hard to measure a used seal, so measuring the seal seat on the spindle and the hub's inner bore is another option and may give a better indication of what the inner and outer diameter of the seal needs to be.
We do not currently have the L44549 inner bearings available, but after doing some research it looks like it should have the same 1.063 inch inner diameter as the # L44649 bearing. I still recommend confirming this measurement with the L44549 bearing on your trailer. If that is the case, then the correct grease seal for your Rettig Utility Trailer will most likely be the 10-60 with an inner diameter of 1.500 inches and outer diameter of 1.987 inches like # 10-9.
I have also included a link that takes you to our available grease seals so you can make sure you are choosing the correct one based on the measurements you take.
