2-1/2 inch Hitch Extension Recommendation for 550 lbs of Trailer Tongue Weight
Question:
Brophy Hitch Extender HR26 says 500lb tongue weight and 1000lb WD tongue weight. My 2017 Ford F250 says that it does not need a WDH for the same 1500 max tongue weight. Can I pull a small travel trailer with a 550lb tongue weight and not use a WDH with this extension to clear my tailgate?

Your truck would be fine without using the weight distribution system, but the # HR26 would not as it needs the WD system when the tongue weight is over 500 lbs.
If you used the Reese Titan part # RP45292 in the 24 inch length it would have a tongue weight capacity of 600 lbs which would be enough for you setup.
