Recommended Cargo Carrier And 5 Bike Hitch Mounted Bike Rack To Be Used Simultaniously
Question:
Will Brophy HT58 adapt to the back of PS10401-10402 cargo carrier with the intent of adding a hitch style bike carrier? Looking to combo a cargo carrier at least 24inch long with the ability to add a 5 bicycle hitch mounted bike rack.

For a 5 bike rack, I recommend the Thule Apex XT 5 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # TH9026XT. This is a very nice carrier weighing only 35 lbs and able to carry 5 bikes at a total capacity of 150 lbs. This bike rack is your best option for use with a cargo carrier when using the correct adapter.
You are not able to use a cargo carrier in the manner you mentioned, so I recommend using a dual hitch adapter like the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 4" Drop/Rise # RM-077-4. The use of an adapter will restrict your hitch tongue weight capacity to 50%, so you will want to account for that in the use of your bike rack and cargo carrier as well as the weights you add to them. You will not only need to stay within the weight restriction of 1/2 of your hitch tongue weight, but you will need to know your vehicle tongue weight load capacity and stay within the lowest of those ratings.
For a cargo carrier, I recommend using the 20x59 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs # C18151. I also suggest using a lock like # e98880 to secure your investments.
The biggest issue will be the cargo height when hauling your hanging bikes. It won't allow much clearance depending on the bikes you are hauling.
