Troubleshooting Prodigy P2 Electric Brake Controller that Doesnt Always Work with Brake Pedal
Question:
I purchased a tekansha p2 nib worked for couple months now brakes work intermittently. When not working the manual brake switch will work/stop trailer. Brakes on trailer are. New/completely any ideas b4 I junk this highly rated unit for another less complicated one? Thank you. FYI I am a customer of yours.

If the P2 # 90885 is working with the manual switch but not when the brake pedal is pressed I would start by checking the red wire coming from your truck's stop light switch. This is what tells the controller to send a signal down the blue wire. The manual lever overrides this. If the red wire doesn't have a good connection it can make the controller work intermittently.
The other possible issue is a weak ground. If there isn't a strong ground connection the brakes may not apply because the signal from the controller isn't strong enough. However, when using the manual lever the signal would be full power and therefore enough to overcome a weak ground.
If checking these doesn't solve your issue let me know and we'll continue to troubleshoot.
