To flat tow your 2016 GMC Canyon you're going to need a tow bar, base plates, wiring for the lights, a supplemental braking system for the truck's brakes, and possibly a high-low adapter.

I suggest the Blue Ox # BX1721 for a base plate kit. This will fit your 4-wheel drive model with or without the adaptive cruise control. To connect to the RV I like the Avail # BX7420 for a tow bar because of the higher weight capacity. It also includes safety cables.

To power the lights of your Canyon you can use the diode kit # RM-154. According to the owner's manual, your truck's battery must be disconnected while flat towing. You can use a battery disconnect switch # RM-766 to make this easier.

For a supplemental braking system the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 is a favorite around here because of how reliable it is and it's easier to install than many other permanently installed systems. A brake light relay # RM-88400 is also necessary to keep the truck's brake signal from overriding the RV's turn signals.

Finally, you'll likely need a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help you determine the correct rise or drop your setup requires. I've also linked our selection of adapters for you to look at once you know what you need.

In addition to my recommendations I've linked some articles on flat towing that you may find helpful.
