Question:

Seeking clarification on previous Recommendation by Jason S. Do I need to remove the spring bars when maneuvering and backing down a boat ramp if I have this set up on a Dodge Durango, 2017, AWD, V6?

For your Cobalt boat and trailer, I recommend you go with the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion # FA92-00-0800. This system will give you a stronger system that will also allow you greater ground clearance. This system will handle much better for you as you travel down the road as well as when you are loading and unloading. The sharp angles won't be a problem with this system. This system is easy to engage and disengage as needed, so you will have options. To use this system, you will possibly need the Reese Pole-Tongue Adapter for Weight Distribution Systems - 14,000 lbs GTW, 1,400 lbs TW, # RP58393. This is dependent on a pole tongue versus an A-frame. If you have a version that is a combination, a weight distribution system may not fit at all.

You will need a hitch ball for this application. I recommend the # A-90 for a 2 inch ball or the # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.

No. You do not need to remove the spring bars to back up or manuever. The spring bars are removeable if you desire to remove them for any specific situation, but that is not a requirement for backing up or turning.
