You can use an electric over hydraulic system with drum brakes on your trailer. I have attached a helpful article that explains what is needed when switching to EOH brakes.
You will want to install a brake controller like part # 90195 inn your towing vehicle to send the brake signal to the actuator.
The hydraulic brake actuator you choose will need to be compatible with drum brakes and the psi output pressdure for the actuator should be matched with the brakes per the manufacturer specs. If you need 1,000 psi I recommend an actuator like part # HBA-10-252-82. If you need 1,200 psi then the actuator I recommend is part # HBA-12. I have attached a link to our product page for the EOH actuators we offer for drum brakes.
Typically, and EOH system is used to replace a drum brake system with a surge coupler on the trailer. It will need to be locked so that it does not actuate or replaced.
You will also need a trailer breakaway kit on the trailer. I have also attached a link to our product page for the breakaway kits we offer like part # 20099. This kit includes the breakaway kit with a charger for the breakaway battery and tester.
