Recommended Flat Towing Parts For 2013 Jeep Wrangler With ARB Stubby Bumper

I want to tow my 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport behind my RV with the Blue Ox tow bar. The Jeep has an ARB Stubby bumper on it. Will the BX88307 adapters work on this bumper and attach to the tow points or do I need a base plate? If so, where do the safety cables attach to? Do I need to make any modifications? Are their any other parts I need to have?

I reached out to my contact at Blue Ox and the baseplate that will work for your ARB Stubby bumper is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms, # BX1134. This gives you a 24 inch distance between bracket and fits Blue Ox Acclaim, Adventurer, Aladdin, Allure, Alpha, Ambassador, Avail, Aventa, and Trion tow bars.

If you don't already have tow bars, I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar - Motor Home Mount - 6,500 lbs, # BX7380. This tow bar comes with the safety cables.

To wire your Jeep for flat towing, I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles, # HM56200. This harness allows you to wire your vehicle to accept your towing vehicle's tail, brake, and turn signals. It provides a 4 way flat plug at the front of your Jeep to connect with the towing vehicle. It clips into your factory wiring without splicing or cutting. I've attached an installation video for you. You will also want the Hopkins 4-Pole Flat Wiring Extension - 120" Long, # HM48235, to connect your towing vehicle to your Jeep.

For your braking system, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional # BLU37TR. This will apply brakes in your Jeep when the tow vehicle applies their brakes and with the same intensity. This is an easy to install system that connects to your brake pedal and is powered by a 12V supply. You will need to add this 12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps, # RM-9332. If you have active power assist braking system in your vehicle, you will need the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, # RM-88400, to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn. Check your owner's manual to see if this is necessary for your vehicle.
