Will the Swagman XC 2 Bike Rack Be Far Enough From My Exhaust To Protect The Bike Tire?
Question:
I drive a 98 Volvo s70, first time I mounted a bike rack and took my new 29er out I wasnt 10 minutes down the road when I heard a loud pop! Pulled over only to discover the heat from the exhaust had exploded my rear tire! Does this model bike rack give enough distance from the exhaust so as to not heat the tire and pop it? Have you ever heard of this happening?

This is the first I've heard of a tire popping first hand. The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches, # S64650, has a distance of 10-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the edge of the first wheel hoop. It also has a 4 inch rise in the shank, so you should have no issues with the exhaust and the tire of your bike. I've attached a review video as well as an installation for you.
