Can Draw Tite Service Body Hitch 41990 Fit Ambulance Build on 2007 Chevy Express
Question:
I would like to install this hitch on my 2007 Chev Express ambulance. The frame rails are 5.5 inches wide and 42 inches outside to outside. I want to bolt this on the frame rails. If I use the 7 inch mounting brackets the from the top of the frame to the top of the cross square tube is 5.5 inches. The body of the ambulance is 1.5 inches below the frame so I need to come down from the top of the frame with the mounting bracket at least 1.5 inches. Can I do this with out the bottom holes getting to far down? I know I can buy the 16 inch brackets but I would have to modifiy the bracket and I would like to not have to do that.

For what you are trying to do a fabrictor is going to be your only option for safe install. What I would recommend is take the cross tube part # 41990 to a qualified fabricator in your area and tell him what you are looking to do and he will come up with a way to install the hitch at the exact height you are looking for.
