Recommended Trailer Light Converter for 1987 Volvo 245 Wagon
Question:
I need to replace the trailer light converter on my 1987 Volvo 245 Wagon. The old one was a powered Draw-Tite Modulite part number 18187 which is no longer available. I am pulling a 5 x7 utility trailer with two tail, stop, turn signal lights on it. What would you recommend for a replacement converter?

For your 1987 Volvo 245 Wagon, I recommend the 1987 Volvo 240 Series Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # C59236. This will replace your previous modulite and allow you to pull your utility trailer. This Curt converter will hardwire your 4-way trailer connecter and should be a very simple install considering you are replacing a similar part. This is a powered unit that will require a wire to the battery, but I recommend this because it will not draw power from your existing vehicle wiring circuits to power the modulite. I've attached a video of this install for you.
