Weight Distribution System or New Shank with More Drop to Tow Trailer Level

Question:

I need a lower hitch. We switched two vehicles from a Jeep GC to a Tahoe and the hitch is probably 6-8inch higher. My current hitch cannot be altered and I cannot find a lowering system I would trust with a distribution hitch in it. Camper is a 24foot double axle roughly 4,000 pounds when loaded. Best I can figure is get this hitch and a C17123. But what do I do with the original shank? How about you keep it, since you sell them individually and give me some sort of price combo?

We cannot open the packages and swap out the shanks so the best option is to either just replace the shank that you have or choose a system that doesn't come with a shank and shank separately.

You don't have to get a whole new weight distribution system if you just need a shank with more drop. You can buy just a shank. Most shanks are interchangeable amongst the different manufacturers.

If the head of the weight distribution system you have now mounts to the shank using 3/4 inch diameter holes spaced 1-1/4 inches apart on center then you can just get shank # C17123 that you mentioned.

If you want a new system then we do have several options that do not come with a shank which will allow you to choose one that meets your needs. I have included a link to these systems and a link to the weight distribution shank main page for you.
