Tekonsha P3 Display Back Light Works But No Display

Question:

My P3 prodigy brake control readout screen has not display, only a blue screen. When pushing other buttons nothing changes. When hooked to trailer nothing changes as well, All lights and brake lights still work. Any help would be appreciated. I purchased this unit form you 2 years ago.

I have spoken with one of my friends at Tekonsha, who tells me that he has heard of this problem from time to time.

Your controller needs to be reset. To do this, simply unplug the wiring harness from the rear of the unit (while the trailer is NOT connected) and wait 10 or more seconds. Then plug the unit back in. This should return the unit to normal operation.

If you are getting a blank screen on your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller #90195 you might just need to reset the unit (as simple as that might sound). Try unplugging the controller, waiting for about 15 minutes, and then plugging it back in.…

I've linked the Instruction manual for the Prodigy P3 #90195 on this page. It does show the install as well as the setup process. To reset the P3 unplug it for at least 15 minutes and it will default back to its original settings.

Brake controllers such as the P3 you referenced #90195 will go into a sleep mode after about 15 minutes of it sensing no movement. If you peek through the window after 15 minutes then it should be in sleep mode. What you are seeing is normal.
