How To Wire Brake Controller To Wires Under Dash That Are Cut On 2004 Dodge Ram Factory Tow Package
Question:
Ive got a 2004 dodge ram with the factory tow package. Following you directions for finding the 4 pin blade connector it seems the previous owner cut all those connectors off like an idiot. Im trying to find out which of the cut wires will be used to hardwire a hopkins brake controller. All the wires are still under the dash but they have all been taped off. Thank you for any help you can offer.

The information that I have indicates that for the 4 wires under your dash, there should be a red-and-tan wire, a green wire, white-and-red wire, and a black wire.
You will need to connect the red-and-tan wire to the Black wire of the brake controller. You will connect the green wire to the Blue wire of the brake controller. The white-and-red wire will connect to the Red wire of the brake controller. The black wire will connect to the White wire of the brake controller. To connect the wires, you will want to use butt connectors, part # 05732-2.
Brake Controller Wire to Vehicle Wire
Black to Red-and-Tan
Blue to Green
Red to White-and-Red
White to Black
Vehicle manufacturers change wiring colors from different model years. If the wires under your dash are different, email me the colors of the wires and I can provide installation instructions for your brake controller.
