For your RV and the 5,000 pound trailer I recommend using an RV hitch that is rated for weight distribution such as # C13701 or # C13702 and to use a weight distribution system. This is because the hitches max out at 5,000 pounds with the exception of these 2 (when used with weight distribution). But to use either of these you would have to get the tongue weight down to 600 pounds or less, even when using weight distribution, to be able to tow the trailer.

If you cannot get the tongue weight low enough then you will need to use a weld-on hitch such as # 41990-07 for 7 inch brackets or # 41990-16 with 16 inch brackets. Then you would not have to use weight distribution. These hitches should be installed by a qualified professional welder.
