Vehicle to Vehicle # 18158 Taillight Converter for Separate Turn Signals on 2003 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I am wanting to convert my taillights on my 2003 jeep wrangler to an asian type with seperate turn signals from the brakes, basically go from 3 wire to a 4 wire, isolating with diodes. Thanks for any info you can send me on the subject.

For what you are trying to accomplish, you shouldn't need the diodes. The # 118158 vehicle to vehicle taillight converter you referenced would convert the 3 wire system you have now to the 4 wire system you want.
Diodes are for use when one vehicle is towing another, and you don't want the signal from the towed vehicle feeding back into the electrical system of the tow vehicle.
I'd recommend installing the converter in an interior location if at all possible. The converter isn't designed to be exposed to the elements. I've linked you to a demonstration video for the converter.
