Which Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Ford Edge has the Best Ground Clearance
Question:
Can you tell me what ground clearance the DrawTite hitch provides vs the Curt hitch. The two photos of yours dont really allow a comparison but the more recommended Drawtite looks way lower than the Curt. At the rear bumper, ground clearance it pretty important! Also, whats the recommended wiring adapter for this setup and what number is the connector support for the external hitch electrical plug. I dont like the shown method of wrapping the hitch electrical plug around the hitch receiver!!!

Curt trailer hitch # C13234 and Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75214, which is the comparable hitch, have the receiver and cross tube in basically the same place so they will have nearly identical ground clearances once installed. If anything the Draw-Tite hitch is a bit tighter to the bottom fascia. The bottoms of the hitches will be approximately 1-1/2 inches or so lower than the bottoms of the exhaust tips.
If you are looking at Draw-Tite hitch # 75234 only the receiver will be visible. The cross tube will be up higher than either of the 2 above hitches and only the receiver will be showing but the receiver will be a bit lower than either of the above hitches.
If your Edge is not a Sport or Titanium model use wiring harness # 118669. If it is a Sport or Titanium model use # 118677. For a mounting bracket you can use # 18144 with either short extension # 18140 or long extension # C57202.
I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
