Options for Towing a Fifth Wheel Trailer with a 2013 Chevy Silverado 5-1/2 foot Bed

Question:

For a 5th wheel Motor home I need to install a hitch in my 2013 Silverado short bed box 5foot 8 the recommendation is an automatic slider hitch since the bed is a short bed. Is there a manual option or other option.

For a truck bed as short as yours there's only one slider hitch we offer that would give enough clearance. That would be the part # DM8550040 which is an automatic slider that can do 22-1/2 inches of clearance when slid back.

The only other option is a Sidewinder pin box with a stationary hitch. For a stationary hitch you would then want the part # RP30047 and then rail kit part # RP50064-58 which is a custom install kit that would install in half the time as a universal kit and minimize drilling. This kit also will work with the Demco.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
