When the hitch is properly installed the king pin will be approximately 2 inches forward of the axle center.

In order to find the right location for you to mount your 5th wheel hitch, you will need to have the rear of the base rail 28-7/16 inches from the rear edge of your truck bed. I would recommend measuring the left and right side of the base rail to make sure it is as square as possible in your truck bed. You will also want to make sure your base rail is centered left to right also by adjusting the base rail left or right until there is equal distances on the left and right sides of the rails.

You will also need to use the hitch and front base rail to square up the rear rail. Finally, you will need to make sure that when the hitch is installed that the hitch itself will easily go in and come out of the base rails.
