Reese Dual-Cam Sway Control Brackets are Coming Loose from the Trailer Frame

Question:

Hello my name is Dan , several years ago , I purchased a Reese straight line hitch from you folks , the whole system set it up per directions , and worked flawlessly , lots of miles on the expressway could run 70mph comfortably if I wanted, tow vehicles were a 2001 Chevrolet suburban , also a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado both 1500 vehicles both same hitch heights. I have a problem now I wonder if you could help me with ? The main problem is when I bolted the sway brackets to the trailer frame several years ago I drilled the holes and ed the serrated bushing , then tourqed the bolts. I remember the tourque wrench did click at the proper tourque settings but I could tell they seemed Weak. I recently bought a 2011 suburban and was resetting the hitch and noticed the brackets are rolling offinch the trailer frame and it is no longer square to the frame and the bolts can not be tightened to the proper specifications. Are there bigger or replacement bushingsinch available? As a result of this problem the bars and sway brackets are worn unevenly from all the components being tipped slightly. Also just an fyi the suspension on this 2011 seems much softer and I am having to put significantly more force to reduce the squat

It sounds like you need the rivet nuts # RP58507. If the rivet nuts do not work then you can go ahead and drill all the way through the frame and use longer bolts to bolt the dual-cam brackets to the trailer. Also make sure that the set screws at the backs of the brackets are at the proper tension.

As far as the tension goes you may need to make adjustments to the head angle and/or the amount of chain links you are using at the spring bars to make it easier to use.
