Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2008 Ford Taurus X to Tow a Horse Trailer
Question:
Hi We currently have a Ford Taurus X 2008. We also have a horse and are looking to get a horse trailer. Could our current vehicle haiul a two horse trailer with one horse in it? Just hate the idea of needing to buy both a truck and trailer. Thank you for any assistance!!

Your 2008 Ford Taurus X has a gross trailer weight capacity of 2,000 pounds. As long as the combined weight of the trailer and the horse is less than that then you could tow the horse and trailer. Going with a single horse trailer made of aluminum will keep the weight down. So it is possible depending on the horse.
The best option for a hitch is the Draw-Tite Class 3 Hitch # 75299.
For a ball mount use # 36071. If the trailer you choose takes a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19257 and if it takes a 2 inch ball use # 19258. And for trailer wiring you can use # C56055 to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.
