Recommended 50 AMP RV Adapters for 3&4 Prong 30 AMP Plugs on Honda EU 6500 IS Generator to Power RV

Question:

Just recently bought a Honda EU 6500 IS. Planning on using those to power my RV. It has a three prong 30 amp and a four prong 30 amp-120/240 outlet. Should I use the three prong 30 amp or the four prong 30 amp with the switch on 120 V. A 50 amp trailer has 2 -120 V legs a neutral and a ground. Let me know if I can provide any more information and thank you for your time

Using the Honda generator to power your RV is a great idea. You can use either outlet to power your RV.

For any appliances that use less than 125V of power, I would recommend you use the 3 prong 30 amp outlet with a 50 amp adapter like the Camco # CAM55412. This will allow the generator to run economically when using appliances rated for less than 125V; most commonly RV appliances are rated for 120V.

If you have any appliances that run on higher voltage than 125V you will want to use the 4 prong 30 amp plug with the Valterra # A10-G30450VP 50 amp adapter. This adapter cord is rated up to 240V of power for the higher voltage appliances which typically are 220V. These higher voltage appliances may make your generator run harder than when using the 3 prong plug and 125V power so I recommend using this as often as possible but both outlets can be used with the correct adapter cord.

I have linked the above mentioned products to this page for your purchasing convenience.
