Installation Of Brake Controller On 2016 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
Hello, hope you are well. I have a Tekonsha Prodigy, that I need to install into a 2016 Toyota Tacoma. It appears you have the connector cable for that. Do you have the instructions on where to find the wiring in the Tacoma? Thanks

If you have a factory 7-way on your Tacoma, you can easily connect the brake controller by using a plug-in adapter like part # 3031-P. You simply plug one end into the back of the controller and the other end plugs into the brake controller port under the dash.
If you do not have a factory trailer connector on your Tacoma you will first need to install a 4-way harness like part # C56349. You just plug this harness into the connection points behind the tail lights, and then run a hot lead wire up to the positive battery post.
Next you will need part # ETBC7. This plugs into the 4-way connector and you will then need to attach the blue wire from the 7-way to the brake controller blue wire, the black wire to the positive battery post with the included 40-amp breaker and the purple wire to the reverse light wire on your tail light if you need it. If not you can simply tape it off. I have attached a drawing you can check out that shows how the wires should be run when installing a brake controller.
The installation instructions for your Prodigy brake controller are also linked.
