Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2015 Honda Pilot

Question:

I have a 2015 Honda Pilot. I see you have 2 diff options for trailer wiring harnesss. 118265 - 7 round and CT56170 - 4 Flat. Other than not having the permanently mounted 7 round plug, is there any down side in just going the four-flat option? Most trailers I pull only have 4 flat, but would I be short sighted in not getting the 7 round in case I was to pull a trailer that needed elect. brakes?

If you currently pull, or see yourself in the future pulling, a trailer with a 7-Way trailer connector, I highly recommend going with the 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118265. It will be much easier to adapt the 7-Way to a 4-Way in order to pull your 4-Way flat trailers that it would be to later purchase the components to pull a 7-Way.

If you decide to go with the 7-Way wiring set-up and need an adapter to connect 4-Way flat or 5-Way flat trailer connectors, I recommend using the Hopkins 7-Pole to 4-Pole and 5-Pole adapter # 37385. This will allow you to pull a trailer with either one of these connectors via the 7-Way connector. Other adapters are also available that would allow you to pull a variety of different style connector. All of these adapters can be found on the linked product page.
