You will need the brake controller adapter # 3016 to make the Tekonsha Primus IQ compatible with your 2016 GMC Sierra Denali 3500, BUT it's important to note that the Primus IQ is not compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes. Instead I recommend a brake controller like the P2 # 90885 and # 3016 adapter, which is relatively close in cost compared to the IQ, and is compatible with the brakes on your boat trailer.
The # 3016 adapter will just simply plug directly into the factory brake controller port in the electric junction box under the driver's side dash.
When you replace the factory brake controller with an aftermarket brake controller it will give set off an error code on your dash. You will have to go to the GMC dealer and have the vehicles computer flashed to remove the error code. Once the computer is flashed to recognize the new brake controller, you should be able to use the P2 with no problem.
I have linked the above mentioned products, as well as all the electric over hydraulic compatible brake controllers to this page for your convenience.
