Purpose of Wire Inside 3500-lb Axle
Question:
Just bought 89inch Dexter 3500 lb axle it has wire at each end What is its purpose can it be used to electric brakes

Helpful Expert Reply:
The 89-inch/3500-lb axle kit # e43SR, for example, includes electric drum brake assemblies so it will have wiring in place. Electric brakes are simple to wire; there are only two pigtail leads from each brake and either one can be used for ground or +12V. Generally electric brakes should be wired with 10-gauge duplex wire like # 10-2-1.

The brake controller we most often recommend is the Prodigy P2 # 90885 which our customers rate highly for its simple set-up and easy operation.
