Care and Maintenance for Thule Hitching Post Pro Bike Rack
Question:
Hi, I purchased a Thule hitch mounted bike rack 917xtr from your website a few years ago. Just wanted to know if I needed to do anything for maintenance for this product? I experienced a close call, almost losing my bike on a friends rack, which caused some concern. Ive always checked the screws on my rack and tightened if necessary. Are there any other duties/checks that should be done? The Thule website does not specify any maintence requirements. I have had this rack for 3 years without any problems. Just want to ensure that it is properly maintained to continue the integrity of the product and ensure that my bike can be properly transported with minimal worry. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

It sounds like you are doing a great job caring for your Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR! There are not any specific maintenance or care requirements for the bike rack, but Thule does recommend periodically checking the bolts and screws to ensure they are still tight, as you mentioned you do. This is a great idea especially at the beginning and end of each season.
You can also check the components of rack, such as the straps, cradles, and No-Sway cages, when you check the bolts and screws. These components can wear out or crack naturally over time with use and exposure to the elements. We offer a number of replacement parts, such as the strap # 852-3006-001, for this rack if you find any of your components are wearing out.
To help preserve your bike rack, if you don't use frequently it is a good idea to remove it from your vehicle when not in use.
