Weight Distribution or Timbren Recommendation for a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question:

Question about Timbrens. I have a 2003 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab 2WD w 4.8 engine pulling a 14foot 3,880 lb empty weight, 5,905 lb loaded trailer. Would like to improve sagging. Which Timbrens would do the job? -

For eliminating sag on a truck that is towing a trailer the best solution is to use a weight distribution system and not use suspension enhancement. A WD system will level the tow vehicle but since it does so by redistributing some of the tongue weight up to the front axle of the tow vehicle it also greatly improves braking and handling.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Your tongue weight is most likely going to be between 600 and 900 lbs so the # EQ37101ET would work well as it has a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lbs and features a 4 point sway control system. This comes with a hitch ball already too. You will need a thing walled socket like part # ALL643216 to install it though.
