How To Remove Older Wesbar Submersible Low Profile Trailer Tail Light

Question:

I have a 1999 Ranger Trail boat trailer. The right side tail light went out. I went to replace it and found its a Wesbar low profile submersible tail light part # 102640. Ive been looking on your sight and apparently I need to buy a Wesbar part # 403076 to replace it. When I started I only took out one screw which held the cover in place. Now I have exposure to the capsule and what appears to be inside of the housing. If in fact what Im seeing is the old capsule and housing I cant figure out how to remove the housing so I can replace it with new tail light.

It sounds like you are trying to remove your older Wesbar Submersible Low Profile Trailer Tail Light from your Ranger Trail boat trailer. These lights are held on to the trailer with 2 studs on the back of the light housing. To remove the lights, you will want to remove the nut on the back of the stud that is holding the light to the trailer. With the nut off of each stud, you will be able to pull the light off of the trailer. You will also need to detach the wiring to completely uninstall the light.

You will not need to access the inside of the light housing to uninstall the Low Profile light.

If you would like to update your lights with the newer model Low Profile Trailer Tail Lights that have replaceable bulbs, you will want to use # 403026 for the Left Hand Side with License Plate Light and # 40376, that you referenced, for the Right Hand Side. I've attached a review video for one of these lights that shows how the hardware is installed on the light to help you better visualize how it will be removed.
