Wiring Harness and Brake Controller Installation on 2010 Honda Pilot without Tow Package

Question:

My Pilot has the factory hitch, but no wiring. I will be pulling a trailer with a 7-pole connector with electric brakes. Which wiring harness is correct and which brake controller would be best?

Brake controllers are not vehicle specific, you can choose virtually any controller for your Pilot and it would work just fine for you. This being said, I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. This controller is very easy to set up and to use, and is one of our best sellers.

As your Pilot is not pre-wired, you will need to hardwire the brake controller. This can be done by using our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. You will also need the T-1 Wiring Harness, part # 118491. This wiring harness provides the needed relays and fuses to activate the towing circuits, as well as providing the needed attachment point for the 7-way connector included in the brake controller install kit. I will provide a link to an installation video showing how the T-1 is installed on your 2010 Pilot.

The controller kit includes everything necessary for installing the controller. We have an installation guide that will walk you through the installation process, as well as an installation video showing a brake controller being installed on a 2009 Odyssey. Different vehicle, but the process would be similar. I will provide links to these below, as well as the products I have recommended.
