Recommended Roof Rack Setup to Transport 2 Canoes on a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab

Question:

I need a rack to carry two canoes on my 2010 Chevrolet silverado 1500, crew cab. The truck has a hard fiberglass lid over the bed. So I am thinking I need a rear rack to extend from receiver hitch with a minimum 66 inch bar and a front rack that mounts on the cab with a 66 inch bar. I am also open to your suggestions. Thanks!

I can help outfit your 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab to transport your 2 canoes.

First let's start with the roof rack designed to custom fit your Crew Cab roof. The fit kit is part number # DK227, this will attach to the # RRRLKVA legs to provide the base for your cross bar. The recommended cross bar is 54 inches long but since you need a minimum of 66 inches the closest size to that is the 71 inch cross bars # RRVA180S, you will need three total cross bars, two for your roof and one for the hitch extender # RTL002, I recommend getting the # RRVA180S-3 since the three bars are already kitted together for you, if you prefer black you will want # RRVA180B-3.

The Rhino-Rack T-Load Support Bar # RTL002 will mount into your 2 inch hitch receiver and provide you with an extension, an extra cross bar and load assist feature for your canoes. You will want to trade out the included 49 inch cross bar for that third 71 inch bar to match the one's on your Crew Cab.

To mount your canoes once on the roof I recommend the Rhino Rack Nautic Roof Carrier with Tie-Downs # RR571 or if you prefer ones with locks the # RR581. Since you have 2 canoes, you will want 2 sets. I double checked to make sure that your cross bar spread would work with these roof carriers, and they will have a spread of 31-1/2 which accommodates the minimum spread of 23-9/16 inches needed for the canoe rack.

I have linked all the above mentioned products to this page as well as an installation video of the legs and custom fit feet being mounted on a 2010 Silverado for you to check out. This video will show a different style crossbar but they will install to the foot very similarly. I have also linked installation videos of the canoe carriers I recommended for your convenience.
