How Does the Curt Forged Tow Hook # C45500 Capacity Work
Question:
In the video you said the hook can handle as much weight as the rating of the hitch on the vehicle. What about Class 4 and Class 5 hitches rated at 12k or 15k+ pounds? Is this hook strong enough for that? In a recovery situation there could be a lot of resistance, for example mud holding the truck in place, where the load could be significantly higher than the weight of the vehicle.

The capacity of the Curt Forged Tow Hook # C45500 is basically going to be whatever the hitch it is installed in is. What that means is that if you were in a recovery situation where you were putting an extreme amount of strain on this hook the hitch would fail long before the hook. Even if the hitch is a Class IV or V.
