How to Determine Which Sidewinder Will fit a Venture Pin Box

Question:

I have a 2012 Ram 1500 with Ramboxes that I need to install a fifth wheel hitch in. I have a Reese 30027 19k pound fifth wheel and rails. I I plan to pull a 26 foot Sunnybrook camper. I plan to buy a sidewinder pin box replacement system. I need to know what hardware installation kit I need and which sidewinder will work with my camper. The current pin box is a venture with 2 sets of numbers on it 219-522-7800 and 185939. While I can install the sidewinder I need the fifth wheel hitch installed.

We need to first determine what Venture pin box your trailer has so that we can determine the correct Sidewinder. We have fits for the long and medium length Venture pin boxes. You will need to do some measuring to be sure what you have. The horizontal distance between mounting holes should be 8 inches. The vertical distance should be 1-1/2 inches. The bolt sizes should be 1/2 inch in diameter with 3/4 inch hex heads.

From the front row to the king pin it should measure 18-1/2 inches if you have a long box and the overall width should be 12 inches. This configuration does not have a Sidewinder option.

Now if the distance from the first row to the king pin is 9-3/4 inches instead you have a medium box which means you need Sidewinder part # RP61450.

For fifth wheel rails you would then want the part # RP30035-386 which is a semi-custom rail kit for your 2012 Ram 1500 with 5-1/2 foot bed. Or if you have the rails already you would need the bracket kit part # RP30439 and adapter part # RP58386.
