How to Install a 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector on a 2007 GMC Sierra Extended Cab 4X4 Pickup
Question:
How do I connect this to my 2007 GMC Sierra Extended cab 4x4?

Expert Reply:
You can connect the 4-Pole 48 inch Long Vehicle End (with 4 Wire Taps), item # 118001, to the existing trailer wiring harness behind the plug that is located above the spare tire on your Sierra if it is not equipped with a factory trailer connector. To do so you will need to use a circuit tester to identify the wires that right turn and brake signal, the left turn and brake signal, and the tail light signal.
Once you have found these wires and labeled them you will connect the white wire on the # 118001 harness to a suitable chassis ground and then attach the yellow wire to the left turn and brake wire, the green wire to the right turn and brake wire and the brown wire to the tail light wire.
If your 2007 GMC Sierra Extended Cab 4x4 has a factory 7-Way only, the 118001 harness can be spliced in behind the bumper or you could use the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket w/ Mounting Bracket - Vehicle End, item # HM40975, to replace the 7-Way only connection at the rear of your vehicle with a 7 and 4-Way connection. I have this connector on my truck and I really like it.
