7-Way Wiring for 2011 Ford Explorer Limited Without Factory Tow Package
Question:
Will this product work on my 2011 explorer without the factory tow package? I need the full working 7 pin connector and I would just like to plug in line of the factory plug shown in the pictures

Sometime auto makers include certain features, like tow wiring connectors, even on vehicles that do not have the tow package. The term's exact meaning varies by auto maker, car model and even by year. If your Explorer has the mating rectangular connectors to join those on # C56278 then all you may need to do is install some fuses and/or relays in the power box under the hood. It all depends on how the car was equipped at the factory.
If you check under the car and instead find a round U.S. Car Connector you can use Curt # HM40975. This part provides both 4-pole flat and 7-way RV-style trailer connectors.
The linked article includes diagrams showing the usual function carried on each wire.
