Reese Goosebox Pin Box Replacement for Towing 5th Wheel Trailer with Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

Hi I just purchased a Keystone Montana High Country model 256BH. With my other campers I used a gooseneck conversion Only marking say a BAR 2 which worked fine on my Sabre 39foot camper. On my Montana I am not getting enough height and my landing gears only has 5- 6 inches of clearance. I was looking at your Reese Goose Box Lippert 1621 and it says that the other types void the warranty I did not no this and the dealer never sad anything otherwise. Would the reese give me more height with the camper landing gear? And does it improve the ride much? Pulling with a 2013 GMC 2500.

The only type of 5th-wheel-trailer-to-gooseneck-hitch adapter that does NOT add extra stress to the trailer frame (and potentially void the trailer frame warranty) is a replacement Reese Goosebox that bolts on to the 5th wheel trailer in place of the standard king pin. All other types of adapters introduce extra stresses to the trailer frame.

All three Reese Goosebox couplers are shown on the linked page. These are direct replacements for specific pin boxes. For example, part # RP85FR replaces Lippert pin box models 0719, 1621 and 1621HD. When installed in the same position on the trailer's mounting wings as your original pin box the ride height at the nose of the trailer will not change.

But if you have space on those wings to lower the mounting point, this will have the effect of raising the nose of the trailer relative to the pin box and thereby add more clearance at the landing gear. You do not want to cause the trailer to ride nose-high, however. Its frame ideally will remain close to level.

A Goosebox will not only eliminate the extra connection points (and resulting noise and chucking) but also provide a smoother ride thanks to its internal air bag and dual shock absorbers that provide cushioning and absorb road shock.
