2016 Infiniti QX80 AWD w/ hydraulic anti role system on vehicle Hello, I am purchasing a 24foot enclosed race car trailer, after loading the trailer with car, tools etc I will be right at the 8500 max tow weight. I am interested in the reese weight distribution hitch and anti sway system. Could you point me to the correct or best option for this for this application? Thanks so much!

To choose a weight distribution system you will need to go by the total tongue weight of the set up. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.

If the trailer weighs 8,500 pounds then the tongue weight of just the trailer will be between 850 and 1,275 pounds (10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight). Based on this range I recommend the Reese Strait-Line system rated for 800 to 1,500 pounds tongue weight # RP66130.

This system does not include a shank. To select a shank you can use the ball mount help article I have linked to determine the right rise or drop needed. I have also included a link to the 2 inch Reese shanks for you. You will also need a ball. For a 2-5/16 inch ball use # C40086.

When hooking up first couple the trailer to the weight distribution ball and allow the vehicle's hydraulic anti-roll system to do what it needs to do, if anything. Then hook up the spring bars. I have included some helpful links on weight distribution and sway control for you.
