Recommended Suspension Upgrade for a 2014 KZ 235RK Sportsman Fifth Wheel Trailer

Question:

Hello I have a 2014 KZ 235RK Sportsman fifth wheel and have been looking to upgrade my suspension. I have the tall Dexter 13-10 equalizer that measures 4 inches from the bottom bolt holes to the top bolt hole. I have ruled out Dexter E-Z Flex and Lippert Equa-Flex because they seem to replace a Dexter 13-104 equalizer that is 2 inches from top bolt hole to bottom bolt hole, that would drop my trailer 2 inches which I would not want to do because I dont think I would have proper clearance in the wheel wells. The description in the Lippert Center Point states it will raise your trailer 2 inches, is Lippert assuming that the trailer has a Dexter 13-104 two inch equalizer? If so am I right in assuming that my trailer, with the Dexter 13-10 equalizer, height would not be effected ? Thank you

I have a solution for you but it's not the Lippert Center Point Air-Ride Suspension # LC1565391, you were looking at. This suspension will still increase the height on your trailer by 2 inches because of the way the unit mounts. I have linked a picture from the instructions to show you this.

I would instead recommend the Lippert Bolt-On Shock Kit # LC281281 for 3 inch axle tubes, or if you happen to have the 2-3/8 inch axle tube you will need # LC281255. These will simply bolt on to your axle and improve your ride. These shocks help to efficiently manage axle spring movement to provide a smoother, more comfortable ride. This will allow you to keep your existing equalizer and not affect the height of your fifth wheel setup. Since you have a tandem axle you may want to install one kit on each axle but that is left up to the fifth wheel driver; if it were me I would test it out with the one and if I felt like I needed more I'd do the other.

I have linked all the above mentioned parts to this page for your convenience.
