Roof Rack and Carrier to Transport 110-lb Canoe on 2014 Ford F-150 Super Crew Cab

Question:

Hello I have a 2013 150 super crew cab. i am looking to haul a canoe on top and a camper on back. Which roof rack system system would you suggest? The canoe is 15foot 6inch rogue river that weighs about 110 lbs.

If you have a slide-in truck bed camper on your 2013 Ford F-150 you'll need to use a combination of rooftop canoe carrier and front-mounted hitch and load support to hold your 110-lb 15-foot canoe. The good news is that you do not have to install a roof rack on the truck cab, just a handy, low-cost and lightweight foam block canoe carrier like # MPG156 from Malone.

The foam carrier will support one end of the canoe while the front-mounted hitch and load support will support the other end. A front hitch also gives you the ability to install a winch mount, cargo carrier or other hitch-mounted accessory on the front of your truck.

Curt offers a 2-inch front hitch # C31068 that installs on your F-150 without drilling. An installation video is linked to illustrate the process on a 2014 F-150. With the hitch in place you can install a load support bar like # EM07605 from Erickson.

If you prefer to install a roof rack on the cab this is of course an option, but this method will be more costly. The linked page will display all roof rack fits for your SuperCrew Cab, the least costly of which is the Rhino-Rack ROC 25 # RR89YR in black.
