The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2006 Lexus GX 470 is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, Class III # 75155. This trailer hitch will provide you with plenty of towing capacity for your trailer, and it features a 2 inch receiver shank that is compatible with a wide variety of hitch accessories. The Draw-Tite # 75155 has a maximum gross trailer weight of 6,000 pounds and tongue weight of 600 pounds. It is important to check your GX 470's owner's manual to be sure of your vehicle's towing capacity before towing a trailer.
No drilling is required to install this trailer hitch. I have attached the installation instructions, as well as an installation video for you.
Since your GX 470 does not have a towing package or factory trailer connector, I recommend the 4-Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit # C59496. This harness will splice into your vehicle's wiring to provide stop, turn, tail, and running lights for your trailer. The # C59496 works to prevent feedback from the trailer lights to your vehicle's lights, and the powered Modulite converter virtually eliminates the draw on your vehicle's taillight circuit by powering the lights from the vehicle battery.
I have attached the installation instructions for the # C59496 as well.
Other components you will need to tow a trailer are a ball mount and hitch ball. The etrailer ball mount kit # 989900 is a great place to start. This kit provides you with 2 ball mounts with different rise and drops, 2 hitch balls with different diameters, a pin and clip to secure the ball mount in the hitch, and a ball mount bag for storage.
I have attached some help articles for you on installing a trailer hitch, towing a trailer, and determining the correct ball mount for your setup.
