Trailer Brake Mounting Hole Pattern is Not the Same as Drum Bolt Pattern

my hub has 5 lugs one outside of drum so what is the big deal as far the bolt pattern

The bolt pattern of the drum has nothing to do with the mounting pattern of a brake assembly. The drum bolt pattern is going to have to match the wheels you are using. The brake mounting pattern needs to match the flange that it bolts to.

There are 2 common brake mounting hole patterns; a 5-hole and a 4-hole. The 5-hole version looks like # 4-44-1. The 4-hole looks like # 4-35. etrailer brake assembly # AKFBBRK-35R-D uses the 4-hole pattern.

So if you look at your brake mounting flange welded to the spindle you can determine if you need a brake assembly with 4 holes or 5.
